Paws in the Park 2024 – Family Fun Event!
Join us for our annual Paws in the Park event!

At a Glance
Paws in the Park is hosted at Cascades Falls Park in Jackson, MI. Be sure to join us for all kinds of fun! 5k run, 5k walk, 1-mile walk, kids-only Doggie Dash, carnival games, performances by the Detroit Circus, 25+ vendors to shop, raffles, low-cost pet vaccine clinic, and dog-centered activities.
NEW THIS YEAR: food trucks and performances by the Puppy Pals, a comedic stunt show featuring rescue dogs as seen on America’s Got Talent!
This is a family-friendly and dog-friendly event! So bring your dog to do the walk or the run, watch the kiddos do the Doggie Dash, shop the vendors, and participate in all the activities we have!
Register for the Run, Walk, or Doggie Dash
Register for the 5k run or 5k walk for just $35 in advance and $40 at the door or register for the 1-mile “Woof Walk” for just $25 in advanced and $30 at the door. Registrants for these will receive a goodie bag and a 2024 Paws in the Park T-shirt. Those doing the 5k will also receive a finishers medal. The top 3 places in each age group receive a medal. We will also be celebrating our canine participants, top dog awards will be given to the first 3 dogs to cross the finish line! Awards can be picked up at the registration tent or later at CHS.
When you register, you will be asked to make a fundraiser page. This is one of our biggest fundraisers of the year and all donations go straight to the animals in our care. We have great incentives this year, so make sure to ask your families and friends to donate so you can get great prizes!
Get the kiddos involved! Register your children to participate in our Doggie Dash (100 yards). Registration is just $5 and includes a paw print medal they can wear proudly around their necks!
Watch Performances by the Puppy Pals!
New this year, Puppy Pals will be joining Paws in the Park to bring exciting entertainment! Puppy Pals is a family fun action-packed show where adopted and rescued dogs perform spectacular stunts and breathtaking feats. Watch as we lead the puppies and audience through challenging and comical tricks as the pooches show everyone who is really boss! Full of surprises and laugh-out-loud canine comedy this performance appeals to children of all ages.

This event is truly fun for the family! We will have fun activities for the kids and dogs to participate in! We will also have a variety of vendors – both for the humans and the pets!

Low-Cost Pet Vaccine Clinic
Get your dog (or cat!) brought up to date on their vaccines while enjoying all the fun that Paws in the Park has to offer! THE VACCINE CLINIC WILL RUN 9 AM – 11 AM. Please only bring healthy pets, all sick animals will not be vaccinated and will be referred to your veterinarian. Cats must come in a carrier and dogs must be leashed.

Dog Distemper Vaccine: $25
Cat Distemper Vaccine: $25
Bordetella Vaccine: $25
Rabies Vaccine (both cat and dog): $25
Microchips (lifetime registration): $25
Dog or Cat Nail Trim: $10
Heartworm Test: $35
One of Our Biggest Fundraisers of the Year!
As a supporter of CHS, you probably already know that we care for nearly 1,200 pets annually. This includes “routine” medical care (although many other shelters do not provide even this level of care) such as spaying and neutering, vaccinating, parasite preventatives, microchipping, and disease testing. It also includes going above and beyond for those animals that need it with specialized surgeries, diagnostic lab work testing, and in depth medical treatments. Each of the animals that find their way to us not only get medical attention, but they get a team of staff and volunteers who love, care, clean and feed them.
If you are registering for the run or the walk, please also create a fundraising page that you can customize and post on your social media account.
